Fighting Climate Change
The ClimateWorks Foundation supports public policies that prevent dangerous climate change and promote global prosperity. ClimateWorks is a non-profit organization funded by several of the largest foundations in the world including The William and Flora Hewlitt Foundation, The David and Lucille Packard Foundation, and The McKnight Foundation. Over the next few years, ClimateWorks will distribute some $500 million in grants to organizations all over the planet on the frontline of the fight against man-made climate change.
Good Bye Spreadsheets
500 million is a lot of money to hand out and keep track of! In order to ensure that the funds were properly distributed, tracked, and accounted for, ClimateWorks needed a database and a modern web application to tie all their users together. After looking at off-the-shelf grant management solutions, and consulting other non-profits for best practices, ClimateWorks concluded it must build its own application from scratch.
Deadlines, Deadlines
CorraTech worked hand-in-hand with ClimateWorks staff and management to design and launch a custom JAVA-based JEE application to handle their entire grant management process. From start to finish. And, as always, there was time pressure. Before the delivery date, the client announced, "We are currently in the midst of our Beta/pilot program, and all the feedback is very positive." Feedback from China, Brazil, Indonesia, The Netherlands, even the US.
Relentless Focus On User Experience
Providing a great User Experience is essential when designing a custom application. From the get-go, CorraTech focused on creating extremely high-fidelity wireframes. Users and stakeholders were able to begin interacting with these designs very early in the project. The results: great UI; buy-in from users and stakeholders; a smooth launch; and high user adoption.
Scott Smith, CIO:
So far, this is the best product launch I’ve been involved with.
